This project is an interactive, research-based documentation that visualizes the impact of gentrification and modernization on urban and semi-urban Assam through an immersive digital walkthrough.
The Goal:
This interactive project visualizes Assam’s evolving landscapes through a digital walkthrough, using architecture as a lens to reveal deeper cultural, socio-economic, and environmental shifts over time.
What sparked the project?
Initially, I was exploring topics related to urbanization and cultural transformation.
After some research, I came across the term gentrification, which perfectly encapsulated the multi-layered shifts happening in Assam—from displacement of communities to changes in traditions and infrastructure.
I wanted to visualize this evolution, not just through statistics but in an experiential, narrative-driven manner.
The project creates a walkthrough town, where users can navigate through Assam’s history, witnessing how settlements evolved across different eras.
The Research Process:
Why Architecture?
While exploring what shapes a place’s identity, I found architecture to be a visible marker of change, reflecting socio-economic trends, policies, and culture. Locals and architects confirmed Assam’s evolving skyline, homes, and public spaces.

This project started with my curiosity about Assam’s evolving landscapes.
Through research, stakeholder interviews, and data mapping, I explored how architecture reflects gentrification, cultural shifts, and economic changes.
To bring this vision to life, I trained AI tools to generate visuals in my art style, ensuring a cohesive and immersive experience. By blending history, design, and AI-driven storytelling, Assam: Through Epochs captures the region’s transformation across time.
